LOOKING TO DISCONNECT FOR A FEW DAYS??

Wade and I are always looking for ways to disconnect and be completely off-grid. During our “lap around Australia” trip, we would often do that, but now that we’re back in Sydney for a while, it’s a bit harder.

Thanks to @afterpayau we found @unyoked.co and were able to be completely out in nature for 2 days, no reception, no internet, no distractions, and only 1.5 hours away from the city. We stayed at the Alon tiny home and 1000% recommend it!!

DO YOU NEED A MICROWAVE WHILE LIVING IN A VAN??

Short answer: No. Can you live comfortably without it? Yes, sure can. Does it make life easier? 100% it does. Should you get one? Well, that depends!

Our microwave is probably one of the items we use the most in our van. We have it stored under our bench and hidden away when we're not using it, and here are the three main reasons why I’m grateful that we chose to have a microwave:

1. It’s convenient - We can heat things up without much hassle, and I can do it fast. Our Youfoodz meals are a great example; they are ready in 2.5 to 3.5 minutes, all without dirtying any other dishes.

2. It’s an all-weather friend - Sunny outside? We'll use it with our doors open while enjoying the views. Cold and raining? We can have it running inside, with our doors closed.

3. It makes lunches and dinners easy - Wade and I don’t generally do a lot of cooking because we simply don't like to and are not good at it. If we have a long drive, we can stop somewhere and have our meals hot and ready to eat in 3 minutes. Leftovers, @youfoodz , you name it...

OUR BEST EXPERIENCES EVERY MONTH IN 2023! (Part 1)

January - one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen is Wharton Beach in Esperance, Western Australia.

February - We snorkelled in the cold waters under Busselton Jetty! Highly highly recommend it, but maybe we bring a wetsuit next time.

March - I was spoiled and spent my birthday last year in Rottnest Island, with the friendly quokkas;

April - The best day of my life was swimming with turtles, in the wild, at Ningaloo Reef. They are super friendly and are not shy to come close to you.

May - We went on a tour to swim with whale sharks while in Exmouth and saw up close one of the most beautiful animals we’ve ever seen in our lives.

June - we camped for a week at James Price Point and it was one of the most magical places we’ve ever been to. The best free camp in Australia in our opinion.

Antarctica is now in our bucket list!!

When we were flying from Chile to Australia, the pilot announced he was going to avoid strong winds by flying a bit more south than they normally do, meaning we were going to fly over Antarctica.

We didn’t think anything of it and went on with our activities as normal: movies, sleep, eat, repeat...

We were both having a snooze when we are awaken with the pilot announcing we were flying over Antarctica and that he STRONGLY recommended having a look through the window.

Oh boy, we are SO GLAD we did it!! How amazing does this look???

🇨🇱THE PERFECT ITINERARY FOR SANTIAGO - CHILE

Chile is a beautiful country and we were blown away by its beauty. We only explored a tiny part of it, but we feel like we seen Santiago really well, so here's our itinerary:

DAY 1️⃣
- Explore the centre of Santiago: Plaza de Armas, Catedral Metropolitana, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes + Cerro Santa Lucia (photo 1).
DAY 2️⃣
- Palacio de La Moneda for the change of guards (Check the times and dates they are happening when you visit - it changes every month)
- Make your way to the beaches of Chile: Viña del Mar and Valparaíso. Go for a walk along Viña del Mar beachfront. Make your way to Cerro Alegre, in Valparaíso. Walk along the colourful streets and take lots of pictures. (photo 2)
DAY 3️⃣
- Visit the Reloj de Flores (Flower Clock) in Viña del Mar (photo 3)
- Go to the stunning Castillo Wulff (Wulff Castle) and make sure to go in if open (photo 4)
- Head back to Santiago and go for a wander around the Bellavista suburb. This place is perfect for an afternoon walk and to eat some typical Chilean food.
DAY 4️⃣
- Spend a few hours (or the whole day) at Costanera Centre, the largest South American mall. While there, go up Sky Costanera, the tallest building in South America and the 5th in the world.
DAY 5️⃣
- Leave Santiago early and make your way to the snowy mountains and ski resorts of Valle Nevado and Farellones. (photo 5) If you're lucky, you will spot the Andean fox (photo 6)
DAY 6️⃣
- Leave early again and drive towards Cajon del Maipo, our favourite place during our time in Santiago. It is absolutely breathtaking, but be VERY careful driving there. The roads are HORRIBLE and quite dangerous with huge mountains with loose rocks on one side and a ginormous cliff on another. (photo 7)
- Drive to the unmissable Termas Valle de Colina - natural thermal pools among the snowy mountains. (photo 8)
DAY 7️⃣
- In Santiago, do the Funicular tour at Cerro San Cristobal. In this tour you go up the hill in either a bus or a train for some incredible views of the city and you come down via a cable car.

It is the Gran Torre Santiago , which is 300 meters high and has 62 floors.

On the 61st and 62nd floors is the @skycostanera viewpoint. The elevator takes 45 seconds to go up 61 floors!!! 😱

FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK HOME!!

After being overseas for more than 2 months, we are back at our favourite place: our van!

We REALLY missed being able to open our door to beautiful sunrises, sleeping with the sound of the ocean, having breakfast watching the surf...there's no place like home!
